Other Feast Days and Prayers |
June 2, 1999
Today's Feastday,
Today is Wednesday in the Ninth Week of Ordinary Time. Two scenes are
given to us in the first reading. The blinded Tobit prays for death. Some 300
miles east, a young woman Sarah also despairs and prays for death. But Raphael
will help them both.
Now Mark tells of an elaborate question asked by the Sadducees. This
religious group did not accept the Pharisaic traditions or the later books of
the Old Testament. So the Sadducees did not hold to belief in a future life.
Today's Prayer
Father,
your love never fails.
Hear our call.
Keep us from danger
and provide for all our needs.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
