Today's Feastday,

Today is Tuesday in the Tenth Week of Ordinary Time. In the background of Second Corinthians was an accusation that Paul was dishonest and insincere. Paul is hurt and writes to defend himself. In today's first reading Paul insists that he is not insincere and vacillating - just as God is not insincere. The Sermon on the Mount is the most famous passage in all Christian literature. In the second reading Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world. We are the ones to keep society from spoiling and rotting. We are to present a different, desirable image before an unbelieving world.

Today's Prayer

God of wisdom and love, source of all good, send your Spirit to teach us your truth and guide our actions in your way of peace. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Spiritual Communion Prayer

Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I know You have already come. I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
