Today's Feastday,
Today is Thursday in the Tenth Week of Ordinary Time. Paul explains the
superiority of the New Testament apostle over Moses. The face of Moses shone
so that it had to be veiled. But no veil covers the New Testament Gospel or
the preacher of that Gospel.
The Sermon the Mount is the jewel of the Gospel of Matthew. Today in the
second reading the Lord describes the spirit of the New Testament religion.
We are to go beyond just keeping the Ten Commandments. We are to have no
enemies, to forgive always.
Today's Prayer
God of wisdom and love,
source of all good,
send your Spirit to teach us your truth
and guide our actions
in your way of peace.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
