Today's Feastday,
Today is Monday in the Eleventh Week of Ordinary Time. In writing Second Corinthians
to defend his sincerity, Paul must at times have written in tears. But we learn much about
Paul's sacrifices and sufferings for Christ - as today's powerful first reading shows
clearly. Here is the heart of Paul the Apostle. In the second reading we continue reading
the Sermon on the Mount (Chapters 5, 6 and 7 of Matthew). This Sermon tells us what true
religion is. Here are the directives on how to react when offended, taken advantage of, or
forced against our will.
Today's Prayer
Almighty God, our hope and our strength, without you we falter. Help
us to follow Christ and to live according to your will. We ask this through our Lord Jesus
Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and
ever. Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with
you.
Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the
Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul. Since I
cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I know You
have already come. I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be
separated from You.
