Other Feast Days and Prayers |
June 15, 1999
Today's Feastday,
Today is Tuesday in the Eleventh Week of Ordinary Time. Towards the end
of this affectionate letter (Second Corinthians) Paul wrote about a collection.
Church collections for the poor, therefore, are quite biblical. Paul reminds
the Corinthians of the generosity of the other churches, and tells them they
are rich in Christ.
The Sermon on the Mount is quotable to self and others. Now in the second
reading Jesus tells us that we cannot have any enemies, that we must greet,
converse with, love and help everyone. There must be no limit to our forgiveness
or our love of all others.
Today's Prayer
Almighty God,
our hope and our strength,
without you we falter.
Help us to follow Christ
and to live according to your will.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
