Today's Feastday,
Today is Wednesday in the Eleventh Week of Ordinary Time. Paul is
encouraging the Corinthians to contribute generously to the poor in Jerusalem.
In classic words Paul states why any follower of Christ should be generous to
others.
The famous Sermon on the Mount expresses the essence of Christianity.
This passage teaches purity of intention: our religious duties (donating to
others and fasting) must be done single-heatedly to serve God, and not for
recognition by others.
Today's Prayer
Almighty God,
our hope and our strength,
without you we falter.
Help us to follow Christ
and to live according to your will.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
