Other Feast Days and Prayers |
June 17, 1999
Today's Feastday,
Today is Thursday in the Eleventh Week of Ordinary Time. Paul has been
accused of selfish motives by some later preachers whom he calls "super
apostles." Now in the words of fire Paul defends his motives and actions.
The Sermon on the Mount contains basic Christianity. In the second
reading is the Lord's instruction on praying, with the familiar Our Father
as our model of prayer.
Today's Prayer
Almighty God,
our hope and our strength,
without you we falter.
Help us to follow Christ
and to live according to your will.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
