Today's Feastday,
Today is Wednesday in the Twelfth Week of Ordinary Time. We read today of
a covenant between God and Abram. In that ancient culture people made a formal
agreement by splitting an animal, walking between the halves and wishing to
meet the same fate is one did not keep the agreement. In the first reading
the torch symbolizes God.
Jesus warns us against false teachers of religion. Their false teaching
will be shown by the results of their doctrine - results quite different
from the Sermon on the Mount.
Today's Prayer
Father,
guide and protector of your people,
grant us an unfailing respect for your name,
and keep us always in your love.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
