Today's Feastday,
Today is Friday in the Twelfth Week of Ordinary Time. In the first reading
God establishes circumcision as a sign of His covenant with Abram and his
descendants, and promises that at long last Sarah will bear the child of the
promise. The ages of people in Genesis, different in various texts, are
uncertain.
After the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew describes several miracles worked
by Jesus. The miracles are an encouragement for the people to accept the new
Kingdom of God proclaimed by Jesus.
Today's Prayer
Father,
guide and protector of your people,
grant us an unfailing respect for your name,
and keep us always in your love.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
Please join us with this prayer in asking the Lord Jesus to be with you.
Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I long for you in my soul.
Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I know You have already come.
I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You;
never permit me to be separated from You.
